YHPSCL finale at Lea Valley Velopark circuit 2/7/21

The riders set off on pre- race practise

The years 2020 - 21 will be remembered for many things but hopefully a group of cyclists will remember that they continued to ride and took part in the Young Hackney Primary Schools Cycling League at a time when there was so little for them to participate in. Unfortunately not all the schools could make it to the Velopark for the finale but as these excellent photos can testify we had plenty of riders taking part. The six teams attending were Gayhurst, Benthal, Kingsmead, Mandeville, JuBilee and Millfields. many thanks to Young Hackney for there continued support of he league and its aims to introduce young people to cycle sport I its varying forms. Scroll down through the race photos - many thanks to Sean - for the results and final league standings.

Summer Grass Track - Millfields Park 26th June.

And the fish was this big...

Millfields Park 26th June and the last of the Summer Grass Tracks took place with  Kingsmead, Mandeville and Millfields being joined by Jubilee for the afternoons fun.

The races followed the familiar format of 3 lap scratch, a handicap sprint and then Keirin races.

Year 6 boys

The races were pretty close especially the handicaps - difficult to get the starting points exact but as the judges needed video to separate the riders something must have been right.

Derny rider Alasdair on his way to pick up the year 5 girls Keirin race

Our derny rider pushed the pace up for the riders pretty hard before peeling off and leaving them to their final lap and a half - although I'm sure the grass length slowed them all down again.
