The first of two visits for this seasons league to the velopark circuit took place last friday in in weather conditions that were changing faster than most people can pedal. The event had been postponed from two weeks earlier when we had very high winds and cold rain. It looked like it would be better this time around...
With sun one minute then driving rain the next we looked to breaks in the clouds to set the races off. The year five girls. started proceedings. The race quickly split apart with Flossie from William Patten leading after lap 1 from Klara and Oral from Millfields and Theodorah from Rushmore. Flossie would stretch her lead out further to take the win with the Millfields pairing making up the rest of the podium.

The year five boys were up next and although the wind was picking up the race stayed tight as we had a bunch of seven riders take the bell together for the final lap. Leon from Southwold finally powered clear on the home straight with Ben from from Rushmore a few bike lengths back closely followed by Omar from Millfields for third.

Next up were the year six girls and they had a really race on between themselves and some ominous looking clouds to the west - Hattie from Millfields powered away from the rest from the start maybe she had spotted the clouds. Halfway through lap 2 the heavens opened and driving hailstones that felt like bullets greeted the girls as they turned into the finishing straight. Well done to all of them for finishing in such tough conditions - very brave. Hattie was the winner followed by Annie from Jubilee in second with Grace from Millfields coming third.
