Circuit race event at Olympic Park

Eighty eight riders from ten schools representing eight teams took advantage of the sun finally showing its face to come at race at the Olympic Park on the road circuit. However as always with circuit racing there was a bit of a headwind on the finish straight so the riders were advised to use one another to hide from the wind and save their energy for the finish. As the photos show this is easier said than done and the races split apart from the start.

Year 5 girls race

The year 5 girls set off first for three laps of the circuit. Rose from Millfields came home first followed by Vidris pairing Sarjio and Gracia.

The year five boys took to the start line next and despite a very strong showing by the Vidris trio Bay from Millfields took the win followed by Jayden , Vuk and Excel.

The year six girls followed this trend this time with pair from Millfields leading a pairing from Vidris.

In the end a photo finish was needed to separate the Millfields riders with Eri just edh=ging Orla by the width of a tyre. Grace and Mia finished third and fourth.

The year six boys was won by Max followed by Millfields teammate Dominic then Ben from Rushmore for third.

Soggy Mountain Bike Fun

The conditions became slippy quickly.

Round five of this years league was rescheduled due to heavy rain and held on the 22nd February after half term. Unfortunately the heavy rain didn't go away - seems it was the wettest February on record - so the Mountain bike event went ahead on soggy Mabley Green.

Five schools managed to brave the weather including newcomers Princess May - hopefully the experience doesn't turn them against cycling...

The riders had some coaching on MTB techniques as they checked out the tricker parts of the course.
