Millfields at the Double

Year six boys about to start a race

 The final round of the 2016-17 season Young Hackney Primary Schools Cycling League was held last friday 30th June at a busy Hackney Downs. Perfect conditions for grass track allowed us use the track bikes this time and all riders had the opportunity to to get to grips with fixed gear riding before the racing began.
First up were the year 4 girls in their 3 lap scratch race - Ishanna from Jubilee won out over ado from Kingsmead - Sophie and Lolo.

 In their second race - the elimination race the places were reversed for 1st and 2nd with Sophie taking top spot.

The year boys saw two storming rides by Arlo from Gayhurst to take first in both races with Fergus from Millfields taking 2nd and Zain - Gayhurst 3rd again in both races.

 The year 5 girls saw Ashleigh of Millfields finish first in both scratch and elimination races with Laila-Grace - Millfields 2nd in the scratch and Ruby - Gayhurst 2nd in the elimination, Laila was 3rd in the elimination and Carmen form park wood was 3rd in the scratch.

 The year 5 boys saw a 1-2 for Millfields in both races with Milton leading Kaspar from Mylo of Jubilee in 3rd.

 In the year six girls Anna from Jubilee took 1st in both races -carrying on the good form she showed the previous week as part of the Hackney Borough's winning team for road cycling at the London Youth Games. second was Molly from Gayhurst and Maia from Jubilee was third.

In the year six boys scratch Nikita from Parkwood showed a quick acceleration on the penultimate lap to win the scratch race from Robin - Millfields and Milo - Jubilee.In the elimination Robin held on to win from Milo with Pon from Gayhurst coming third.

 All this meant that the final league results could be tallied up  with Millfields once again being crowned champions. Well done to all who took part with special mentions to Laurie who represented  Southwold all by himself, and Abdullah who represented Olive School by himself in their first outing at the league.
